Confluence: Navigating as Parent and Professional

  • New York Zero-to-Three Network Via Zoom (map)

The confluence of identities as both parent and infant and early childhood professional creates opportunities and challenges at work and at home. Upon becoming parents, how we approach our work, how we see ourselves, and how we experience our clients and work are forever changed. Self-disclosure, countertransference, directness with clients, and our risk of vicarious trauma may be greatly impacted. Our dual identities can also be of great benefit – at work, and at home.  This session will explore the many challenges and benefits that come with holding the dual identity of parent and provider.  Attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of the subject, along with skills and reflective strategies that can support us all as we navigate this confluence.
