Rebecca Shahmoon Shanok, MSW, PhD (In memoriam)

Rebecca Shahmoon Shanok was an original member of the New York Zero-to-Three Network Board. Her contributions to the fields of Early Intervention, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, Reflective Supervision, Child Therapy and beyond are legion and far reaching as an innovator, teacher, author, therapist, program developer, supervisor and nurturer of professionals and ideas. She was NYZTT’s longest continuous board member serving from its founding in 1990 until her untimely death on March 14, 2020.

Each year, NYZTT, in memory of a founding Board Member, Hedi Levenback, honors an innovator in the field of infancy and early childhood. On October 25, 2022, the Network paid tribute to Rebecca Shahmoon Shanok. In this celebration of her life, Rebecca’s notable accomplishments were recounted by many of her colleagues within our field whom Rebecca taught, inspired, shared significant professional contributions, and touched deeply.
